It’s no secret that former President Donald Trump likes to golf. It’s also no secret that Trump hates anyone who opposes him, and loves posting about everything he hates on his failing social media site Truth Social. His latest post makes fun of his current document inquiry by comparing it to a special golf club.
This really shouldn’t be that surprising considering Trump posted about the judge covering his Stormy Daniels payment case, and about the judge’s daughter. This led to the judge receiving dozens of death threats. In his recent post, Trump said that he was “pleased to report that after a search, we were able to find the gold (paint!) Driver given to me by my friend & former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.”
He then makes light of the “reporting requirements” in an allusion to his ongoing classified documents case and the need to get things signed off by “NARA,” the National Archives and Records Administration.
“Based on the fact that this club was given to me before entering office, I am told that there are no reporting requirements, but I am nevertheless forwarding it to NARA….”
Here’s the message in its entirety:
“I am pleased to report that after a search, we were able to find the gold (paint!) Driver given to me by my friend & former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe. It was in a locker, with other clubs, at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida. It has never been used. Based on the fact that this club was given to me before entering office, I am told that there are no reporting requirements, but I am nevertheless forwarding it to NARA. My company buys thousands of clubs a year!”
See? His company buys “thousands of clubs a year,” how is he supposed to keep track of all of them? Things get lost, they get found, that’s just how the world works, according to Trump. How is he supposed to keep track of everything? Of course, the old “there was too much to keep track of” argument is going to be harder to use as a defense in an actual court of law.
As for golfing, that’s been another place that Trump likes to lie. He famously attacked former President Barack Obama for golfing so much, and then said he did it much less. The truth is that he golfed much more than his predecessor. Who needs objective truth though, when you can just go by your own?
