Though Wolverine may have technically returned to the Marvel Universe last fall, he’s decided to stick to the shadows for the most part, appearing in various “post-credits” scenes in select comic books along the way. But after recently learning that Logan will once again be headlining his own series before long, we naturally assumed it to be an ongoing title.
Hot on the heels of that revelation was the official announcement regarding The Return of Wolverine, a five-issue miniseries written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Steve McNiven set to arrive this fall. For all intents and purposes, this appears to be the title the House of Ideas intended to set up for September.
Now, what added to the pageantry of said unveiling was that of confirmation on Wolverine being granted a new superpower. And in case you hadn’t heard, it turns out that the fan favorite mutant can now heat his adamantium claws to extreme temperatures.
Naturally, this has led to readers wondering how it works, and when approached by one True Believer on Twitter who wanted to know if Wolvie’s claws heat up the rest of his skeleton, Soule offered the following:
“Great question. Answer: No, they do not. Putting a lot of science behind this.”
In a separate Tweet, another fan asked if Logan could “make his claws so hot that even he could not snikt them,” to which the scribe replied:
“Answer: no. It doesn’t happen when they’re not snikted.”
Well, there you have it. The jury may still be out on whether God can create a burrito so big that not even he could finish it, but at least we now have these answers.
The Return of Wolverine #1 arrives in comic shops on September 19th.
