Warning: The following article contains spoilers for The Last of Us episode six, ‘Kin’.
Joel finally reunited with his brother Tommy when he and Ellie arrived at the settlement in Jackson, Wyoming in The Last of Us episode six.
It was hinted that Joel and Ellie may be returning here after they accomplish their mission of finding the Fireflies, and as fans of the game know, Jackson carries some narrative weight, particularly in the sequel.
With the beauty of hindsight, the minds behind HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us were able to pepper a number of hints, references, and easter eggs to The Last of Us Part II (and the confirmed second season of the show) for fans to chew on and geek out over.
The most prominent question on everyone’s mind is, of course, the cafeteria scene, in which Ellie scares off an unsuspecting onlooker. Was it Dina? Here’s what we know.
Is the staring girl in The Last of Us episode six Dina?
To recap, Joel and Ellie finally made it to the settlement, albeit after a tense introduction. Joel reunites with his brother Tommy, and the group makes their way to the cafeteria so that the traveling duo can have their first war meal in months. Ellie, who is probably hyped up on carbs, starts flinging obscenities left and right, including at an onlooking stranger who runs away when spotted.
The camera makes a point of cutting to and lingering on the observer for a few moments, and The Last of Us Part II fans may find her a little bit familiar. This unsuspecting victim of Ellie’s verbal assault is played by Paolina Van Kleef, appearing in the credits as ‘Staring Girl.’ There’s no hard or fast confirmation as of yet whether Van Kleef and the credited role are in fact Dina, but the resemblance is too uncanny to be ignored.
