Well, what do you know, it turns out that three artists whom I’d filed firmly under “meh” turn out pretty fantastic music when you put them in a studio together. SNBRN, Shaun Frank and Dr. Fresch have delivered an infectious club anthem titled “The New Order” that straddles the line between bass house and G house with style.
I know what you’re thinking, and yeah – none of those artists usually make anything remotely G house or bass house. SNBRN and Shaun Frank both put out dreamy, melodic future house songs, and Dr. Fresch is the proud purveyor of a particularly dark style of trap music. Then again, if you made a Venn diagram with a circle for each of those styles, I suppose “The New Order” might fall somewhere in the area where they overlap.
At the end of the day, though, who cares who made it? The track pops, and by the looks of things it could be the first of many. SNBRN, Shaun Frank and Dr. Fresch will kick off a tour of the track’s namesake at Exchange LA on Saturday, February 6th, and they’ll likely use hotel room hours pitch-shifting old rap verses and frequency modulating bass lines.
