In a surprise announcement this morning on Bethesda Softworks’ official blog the publisher revealed that the Dragonborn downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released on the PlayStation 3 and PC “early next year”.
Bethesda’s announcement reads in part:
“We’re less than 24 hours away from unleashing Skyrim’s next add-on Dragonborn on Xbox LIVE. It’s one of our most ambitious add-ons ever and we’re excited for everyone to play it.”
“We’re also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and PC early next year.”
The company did not mention if Skyrim‘s previous DLC (Dawnguard and Hearthfire) would eventually be released on the PlayStation 3, however, Dragonborn‘s confirmation suggests that it is within the realm of possibility. Last August Bethesda noted that they might not be able to get any of the DLC running on the PlayStation 3, today’s news would seem to indicate that Sony has been successful in with their efforts to help Skyrim‘s development team.
Bethesda ended the blog post saying that they are “still not done” with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and that they will have “more… news next year”.
