Star Wars continues to churn out new stories at an incredible clip, and as shows like The Mandalorian, Andor, or Tales of the Jedi find their niche — one upcoming new series looks to repeat their success. Following a group of children lost in space, Skeleton Crew exists as an original coming-of-age tale.
Starring Jude Law, this series is entirely new territory for the folks at Lucasfilm, and we can hardly wait. Sadly, though, not much else is known about the plot or cast of Skeleton Crew. Like so many of their projects, Disney has remained fairly tight-lipped, and odds are we won’t find out much more until the show airs on Disney Plus later this year.
Still, as more and more information is slowly released, the list of talent attached is truly astounding. Created by Jon Watts (responsible for Marvel’s Spider-Man trilogy) and Chris Ford (writer of Spider-Man: Homecoming), Skeleton Crew has also tagged Green Knight director David Lowery to helm at least one episode. Color us impressed.
Even amongst all that fanfare, yet another MCU collaborator has joined the fray. Jake Schreier, the man responsible for Marvel’s upcoming movie Thunderbolts, has been officially connected to direct. The masters Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau find themselves producing the series, and if you needed more confirmation that Skeleton Crew was going to be one of a kind — Everything Everywhere All at Once directors, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, filmed at least one episode as well. With so many creatives attached to this project, we’ve started to lose track.
This level of cross-pollination between the MCU and that galaxy far, far away is certainly compelling. Whether or not it will be good for the overall direction of either property still remains to be seen. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a new episode of The Mandalorian to watch — and it’s a doozy.
