The Xbox LIVE Marketplace could be to thank for revealing the number of online players that Resident Evil 6 will support when it’s released at the end of this year. Some in-depth sleuthing has discovered a set of very interesting details, which happen to be listed in the the overview section of the horror-filled game’s listing.
The listing states that 2-6 players can interact together in online co-op, while 2-8 players can participate in one online multiplayer session. Perhaps the latter tally refers to a new Mercenaries game mode? It’s all just speculation at this point in time.
Of course, we’d be remiss if the listed two player local co-op setting wasn’t mentioned. It’s not nearly as much of a surprise, however.
When Capcom officially revealed this release earlier this week, they made mention of a more robust online offering and the hope that it could compete with Call of Duty. Taking those statements into account, it makes us wonder if the above player limit specifications are in fact true. Let’s hope so. Though, it’s important to keep in mind that this is only a rumor right now.
Resident Evil 6 is currently scheduled to release on November 20, 2012.
Thanks, Joystiq.
