Death Stranding
There aren’t too many specific details about Death Stranding floating around right now, but Hideo Kojima’s trailer has sparked a lot of speculation. Intense and cerebral, the all too brief footage was unlike any other, but successfully demonstrated Kojima’s directive flair and penchant for the abnormal.
His previous work in the industry is well known, having practically invented the stealth genre with his epic series Metal Gear. Considering his pedigree, we can only hope that his newest title proves to be just as innovative.
The game will star Norman Reedus, the actor known best for playing Daryl Dixon on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Reedus worked previously with Kojima on a promising new entry in the Silent Hill series, a collaborative effort that also included visionary director Guillermo del Toro. Following a falling out between Kojima and developer Konami, it was unfortunately cancelled.
Described simultaneously as an action game and ‘something different’ by Kojima, Death Stranding is said to explore themes of the connection between life and death. Given the images of umbilical cords and creepy infants on display, it’s not difficult to see that connection.
Had we more information to pour over, it’s likely this would have placed higher on the list. As of now, we’re unsure of what to expect from Death Stranding, but we’re sure that we can’t wait to play it.
