Time to break out your denim jacket and get ready to jam at the food court. We have our first candid behind the scene images from Marvel’s now-in-production spin-off of 2021’s WandaVision, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and while star Kathryn Hahn is working her witchy hat game she most definitely is not in Salem anymore.
Twitter user @lgbthahn captured the images while Hahn and co-star Joe Locke were filming at a local mall indicated by the user as located in or around Atlanta where the show’s principal photography is taking place. Locke’s role in the series hasn’t been disclosed yet. The series is being promoted as a darkly comedic show centered on Hahn’s Harkness character. So far it isn’t apparent whether or not the series will serve as a prequel or sequel to WandaVision but it will include cast members and Westview residents Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield Ford, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, and Amos Glick.
The new candid images show Agatha dressed in a white top and a wide-brimmed hat walking through the upper floor of the mall and sitting at a table at what appears to be the food court. In one shot part of a “consent to be filmed,” notice can be seen on a placard.
@lgbthahn also posted a map of a mall labeled “Westview Shopping Mall” that was presumably taken during the shoot. Westview, New Jersey is the name of the fictional town that Wanda Maximoff took over during the events of WandaVision. Since Agatha was imprisoned in her “Agnes” persona by Wanda at the end of WandaVision we can assume that Coven of Chaos will involve her trying to regain her power. But maybe she stops by Cinnabon first?
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently scheduled to be released in late 2023.
