Over the weekend, news of a Shelter: Mini Album from Porter Robinson and Madeon swept the dance music community. A listing for the upcoming release was discovered on CD Japan, and naturally sent fans into a frenzy as word got out. After being asked about the album on Twitter, Robinson took the opportunity to clarify a few things.
In a series of Tweets, the producer states that the Shelter: Mini Album is being released as a Japanese exclusive to meet the demands of that market, before revealing that stateside fans were never intended to become aware of the product.
@BarryByanBelter it’s still important to release physical music in the japanese market, that’s why this exists

@BarryByanBelter the japanese label requested that we package the single w/ few other things (piano version, couple remixes, older music)

@BarryByanBelter people in america aren’t even really supposed to be aware of this release- just a single to coincide with our show in japan

Given this information, it makes sense that neither artist announced the mini album until it was discovered. Despite Porter Robinson‘s latest revelations, it’s safe to say that a number of fans outside of Japan will still want to grab their own copy, if only for the included Blu-ray of the “Shelter” anime and the included bonus flag.
If the shipping rates aren’t enough to scare you away, you can grab a pre-order of the Shelter: Mini Album here.
