Mark Valley hated to see his action/adventure series Human Target cancelled by Fox in May, but the actor is bouncing back. NBC has announced that Valley will join the cast of the Kathy Bates/David E. Kelley legal dramedy Harry’s Law. Valley will join the cast full time this fall playing a new hotshot attorney at Harry Korn’s suddenly in demand storefront legal practice.
Harry’s Law is not the first time that Mark Valley has teamed with super-producer David E. Kelley on a legal drama. Valley played lawyer Brad Chase on Kelley’s Boston Legal for three seasons. Mark Valley started his career with a role on the soap opera Another World in 1993 and followed that with starring roles on the short lived detective series Keene Eddie and the USA series The 4400 before landing Human Target.
The addition of Mark Valley to Harry’s Law follows the recent addition of Broadway star Karen Olivo to the cast. Olivo, who won a Tony for her work in the 2009 revival of West Side Story, will also play a lawyer newly hired. Mark Valley and Karen Olivo take over after Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen were let go by the David E. Kelley series in june.
NBC was far from finished with the Harry’s Law cast announcements this week. After revealing that Mark Valley had joined the series full time the network announced that recurring guest star Christopher McDonald had been promoted to a full time cast member and then the network revealed a pair of big name guest stars. Former Designing Women star Jean Smart and former Law and Order: Los Angeles star Alfred Molina will join the show for a three episode arc this fall.
Jean Smart will play a hardnosed prosecutor who goes up against Harry Korn as she and her team defend Alfred Molina whose character is suspected of murder. The three episode run for Smart and Molina is set to open the season for Harry’s Law when the series returns on Wednesday, September 21st 2011, on NBC.
