Melbourne bounce is kind of our guilty pleasure, so when a couple of artists team up to do something unique with the genre justifies our praise, we’re obviously gonna be all about it.
American electro house staple MAKJ has teamed up with dutch DJ/producer Thomas Newson to deliver “Black,” an engaging festival banger with enough innovative elements to help it stand out among a myriad of otherwise comparable tracks. MAKJ recently told us his of intention to take a more innovative approach with his sound, and he clearly succeeded. From the alternating panning on the snares a few measures into the track, “Black” exhibits evidence of unique production bells and whistles that make it well worth listening to on a quality sound system.
A testosterone-fueled vocal sample and high-energy bass drop give it the rest of the ingredients necessary to ensure a respectable amount of play over the rest of the festival season. Considering that it’s been released through Nicky Romero’s own Protocol Recordings, the attention to production values comes as no surprise – the fellow Dutchman’s own releases consistently outperform in that department.
Tell us, though, would you bump to MAKJ and Thomas Newson‘s “Black” as part of your 2015 summer soundtrack? Sound off in the comments below.
