To misquote Smash Mouth, the Kangs start coming and they don’t stop coming. We’ve only just met Jonathan Majors’ Conqueror for real in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quauntumania, but our attention is already turning to his imminent battle with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. And, unfortunately, some roster updates are giving fans emotional whiplash. Elsewhere, Florence Pugh gets real about what the indie acting world thought of her switch to the Marvel side of cinema.
The Kang Dynasty writer devastates an entire fandom by admitting five Phase Five/Six heroes won’t appear, but at least two Phase Four faves will
Something tells us Jeff Loveness is about to get a sternly worded warning from Marvel as The Kang Dynasty writer is letting some major spoilers slip out about Avengers 5 while promoting Quantumania. Unfortunately, it’s a mix of exciting and execrable updates. On the one hand, a couple of next-gen Phase Four heroes look to definitely be in the mix, but on the other perhaps the most iconic heroes joining the MCU in the Multiverse Saga won’t. They had better go on to have a huge impact in Avengers: Secret Wars instead to make up for it or it will officially be clobberin’ time.
Florence Pugh admits she was warned joining the MCU would ruin her future as a “serious” actor
One of those two Phase Four faves likely to return for Kang Dynasty is Florence Pugh as Black Widow breakout Yelena Belova (the other being Letitia Wright’s Shuri). And yet while the British actress is happy to stick around the MCU for the foreseeable, she’s admitted that many of her peers dismissed joining Marvel as a terrible move for her career, claiming that she would never be able to return to the indie filmmaking world after “selling out” by boarding the blockbuster franchise. Pugh admits those attitudes wound her up. But don’t worry, darling, you’ve proved those haters wrong many times since.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania backlash won’t affect Avengers 5, even though it really should
Let’s go back to Jeff Loveness for a moment, because that guy is giving us so much to talk about. While discussing his reaction to the backlash surrounding Quantumania, the scribe has admitted that, you know what, he’s just going to carry on as he is with Kang Dynasty and ignore any of the roasting his first Marvel movie is facing. While, to some extent, Loveness is right that he has to keep the negativity out of his mind in order to work, it might still be a good idea to be aware of the constructive criticism concerning the threequel’s faults so he doesn’t accidentally repeat them in Avengers 5.
One of the MCU’s best villains has floated the idea of joining the Avengers themselves, but you can be sure another heroic load of the latest Marvel news will be swimming your way soon.
