It’s a good day to be a fan of the Mouse House because much of that news comes from some upcoming and exciting additions to everything from Disney’s film catalog to celebrating the Fourth of July at Disney Parks. If you’re lucky enough to be at Disney, you’re lucky enough!
In addition to what’s on the horizon, Pixar fans also got a preview into the character of Wade from Elemental and more of why Peter Sohn felt so passionate about bringing that story to life. Evan Peters is joining the cast of Tron: Ares
Evan Peters is the latest actor to sign onto the cast of Tron 3, alongside Jared Leto, who is set to play Ares. While the name and description of the character Peters will bring to life have yet to be announced, we’re thrilled that he will be coming in at all — and we have a feeling he’ll take on a memorable role.
Peters is well known for his work in the American Horror Story franchise and, most recently, his portrayal as Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Evans has played characters with debilitating darkness and terrifying complex for years, so we’re curious as to what layers his characters in Tron 3 will have; no matter what they are, we know they’ll be great.
The synopsis for Tron: Ares has yet to be revealed, but many believe it will follow the events of Tron: Legacy, which would mean Sam (Garret Hedlund) would have taken over ENCOM and likely be in the process of bringing the gaps between realms of reality.
As Tron: Ares moves forward, we can’t wait to see what reveals come next.
Peter Sohn is sharing the inspiration behind Elemental‘s heartwarming story
Pixar fans have been flocking to theaters to see Elemental, and while the film certainly didn’t debut as one of “the best,” those who have gone to see it say that it’s a feel-good, well-done, and captivating watch.
Elemental might not be the highest-rated Disney/Pixar release, but it’s got heart — and in large, thanks to Wade. Director Peter Sohn took to Twitter to share some of the inspiration behind the character, and it’s a sweet nod to a personal chapter in his own story.
Sohn says that his dad had his own store when he was a kid, and many memories of his time growing up exist there. His parents came to the US in the 1970s and, with almost nothing to their name, made a “beautiful life” for their family.
Many of Sohn’s afternoons were spent at his dad’s store, where he saw customers of every background, race, and way of life. It was a melting pot of sorts and a way that he saw many different people coming together.
He also says that he used to think of the periodic table as an apartment complex, each element holding its own unique space in the area. Finally, Sohn says that his marriage to his non-Korean wife and “all of the culture clashes that came along with it” served as another critical piece of the puzzle.
Putting these pieces of his own story together, Elemental was created, and if that doesn’t make you want to run to theaters to see it, we’re not sure what will.
Disney is gearing up to celebrate the Fourth of July in style
If you’re spending the Fourth of July in a Disney Parks location, there will be some unique food and drink options for you to enjoy, and of course, many of these sweet treats aren’t limited to just one afternoon.
Fans can enjoy red, white, and blue candy apples, rice krispy treats, milkshakes, and cookie options to celebrate all things patriotic from now through the Fourth of July, and in some cases, through the end of the summer.
If you’re staying at a resort at Walt Disney World and find yourself with a hankering for something sweet, you’re in luck! You can grab a Freedom Cheesecake or an Independence Day Cupcake from Disney’s Boardwalk or a Mickey Apple Pie Cupcake from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Of course, these are only a few of the delightful, beautiful, and America-themed treat options for you to feast your eyes and stomachs upon this summer.
You can find out more from the Disney Parks blog, and we have to ask: if you’ll be at the parks this Fourth of July, be sure to enjoy a treat for us, too!
