KSHMR is back to offer up a new single this week, teaming up with Marnik on a fresh big room cut titled “Mandala.” The new tune serves as the official anthem for India’s Sunburn Festival, which is the largest music festival in Asia.
On “Mandala,” KSHMR maintains his usual fascination with world music elements, kicking the tune off with some exotic vocals and mystical strings. The serene intro is suddenly interrupted by intense chords as the producer works the energy upwards with pummelling percussion. The drop is standard big room fare, led by four on the floor rhythms, syncopated bass stabs and a catchy horn melody.
While “Mandala” does little to expand the sonic boundaries of big room, it’s another solid entry from KSHMR that will please mainstage fans. In a quote, the producer explained his excitement over composing the anthem for Sunburn 2016.
It was a big honor to do the Sunburn Anthem. The festival means so much to me, and I worked hard with Marnik and Mitika Kanwar to make it special.
In other Sunburn Festival news, Krewella announced earlier this week that they have been forced to cancel their scheduled performance due to issues with their visas. The festival kicks off today and is set to feature headlining performances from the likes of Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Afrojack and KSHMR. Tickets can be found here.
