It looks like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remixes aren’t just for Porter Robinson anymore. In conjunction with The Game Awards, none other than big room house megastar Hardwell has delivered a remix of the video game’s iconic “Gerudo Valley” theme that marries melodies close to the hearts of a bygone gamer generation with the festival-friendly sounds of the one that followed it.
In the high-energy style of progressive house that has become the two-time DJ Mag #1 DJ’s calling card, the instantly recognizable chord progression is fused together with a buildup-drop scheme that ensures it considerable placement in DJ sets around the world. Hardwell looks to be only one of many DJs remixing video game classics, as Steve Aoki, Afrojack and Dash Berlin are also rumored to be doing the same.
As far as the awards themselves are concerned, they will be taking place tonight at 9:00 PM EST – viewers can tune in here. After listening to Hardwell‘s remix of the “Gerudo Valley” theme from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, check out the official broadcast if you’d like to hear more of the same.
