While speaking to Morgan Webb from G4TV’s X-Play, Bethesda Softworks‘ game director Todd Howard revealed the company’s expected launch date for Dawnguard, Skyrim‘s first downloadable add-on. It was at the end of their lengthy and preview-based discussion that the question was posed, with the outgoing PR man stating that the twenty-dollar expansion will be released on Xbox LIVE on June 26. That is, if its upcoming beta test goes smoothly.
During the same preview session, it was revealed that Dawnguard will add ten to twenty hours of gameplay to what is already a gigantic game, by introducing a new (vampiric) quest. Players will be able to join the Dawnguard, a group of vampire hunters which possess crossbows and the ability to create weapons above the Daedric class. Though, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to become a stake shooter who fights on the side of good, as you can also decide to become a vampire lord, who can fly and dish out terrible damage on unlucky foes.
In addition to the wealth of new content mentioned above, the following interesting features were revealed:
- A new mount can be summoned
- An expanded werewolf tree
- A certain dragon will teach you a brand new shout, which will allow you to suck the souls out of people. Those poor folks will then become part of your army.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard is a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, which will set you back 1600 Microsoft Points.
