You’ll be able to pull off visceral automotive tricks and stunts on May 29, which is the newly-confirmed release date for Codemasters‘ DiRT Showdown. Taking a series with roots in simulation territory over to the arcade side, Showdown aims to bring demolition derbies and other rally racing events to new heights. Considering what the series’ other releases did for their sub-genre, it’s hard to not be excited for what is sure to be an incredibly entertaining racing game.
This release will make use of the newly-formed Codemasters Racing label.
A special Hoonigan Edition of the game is now available for pre-order at Walmart, offering exclusive items. Additionally, the game’s demo will go live on May 1st, using RaceNet – Codemasters‘ new online hub, which will link its genre releases.
To celebrate these announcements, a new gameplay trailer has surfaced, entitled Ultimate Hoonigan. It features Ken Block’s Ford Fiesta H.F.H.V. Gymkhana 5 going head-to-head with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X JUN.

DiRT Showdown will deliver a new world of competitive and combative racing as players boost, trick and smash their way to “Showdown” finals on a chaotic tour of motorized mayhem. From San Francisco to Miami and London to Tokyo, players will dominate their rivals and wow the crowds on their way to becoming a driving superstar. Pyrotechnics, lasers and thousands of fans give each venue a vibrant sports entertainment atmosphere, with the player taking center stage.
