Deorro appears to have spent some time finding himself, and he’s returned from his interim with something out of the ordinary. The Ultra Music-signed electro house producer has released a new track titled “Bailar” that incorporates elements of the Latin American merengue genre into its arrangement.
When we spoke with him during Miami Music Week, Deorro mentioned that his future releases would draw from more eclectic influences. Indeed, “Bailar” sounds like the 1998 Elvis Crespo song “Suavamente” except in a higher key, with only light percussive elements anchoring it to the high-energy electro house style that has become the producer’s calling card.
Meanwhile, the plethora of track previews on Deorro’s SoundCloud feed indicate that his long-awaited debut album is right around the corner. While he has yet to announce an official release date for the effort, it’s safe to assume that it will be finished soon if it hasn’t been already.
