Robin Throws Shade At Marvel
Ever since Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Marvel Comics hasn’t been shy at poking fun at DC’s less-than-critically-acclaimed superhero film in its books. While it was funny maybe the first time round, it’s gotten a little bit too much in recent times. We get it: the Martha thing is funny to you, Marvel.
Naturally, we’ve waited for DC to retort and it came from the most unlikely of sources: Damian Wayne (Robin). In Teen Titans #9, Damian hands Jackson Hyde (Aqualad) a pair of hilts for him to concentrate water blades on. Jackson compares them to Dumbo’s magic feather, but Damian is left confused by the comparison. When Jackson explains it further, Damian replies sharply, “I don’t speak Disney.”
Indeed, it’s only a playful, subtle jab at Marvel, since Disney is its parent company. Even so, while it’s not an outright assault on DC’s competitor, it’s at least nice to see that they’re not taking the shameless digs lying down anymore.
