Britney Spears will be the subject of a new biopic set for production on the TV network, Lifetime.
Australian actress Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!) will be starring in the title role of Britney, where the movie is described as the “tumultuous true story of her rise to fame, fall from grace and triumphant resurrection.”
The two-hour movie will follow Spears’ early career as a young girl from Louisiana and her relationship and breakup with Justin Timberlake as well as her personal struggles following her parents’ divorce. Also set to be examined are her marriages to Jason Alexander, Kevin Federline and her downfall that saw her lose custody of her sons before she rebuilt her career and proved herself to be a force in entertainment.
However, it doesn’t appear as though Spears is happy with the project. A representative for the singer told Entertainment Weekly that she won’t be contributing to the movie “in any way, shape or form…nor does it have her blessing.”
Britney Spears is currently gearing up to release her ninth studio album, Glory, on August 26th, which has already produced a hit single in the G-Eazy-assisted “Make Me.”
