Aphex Twin has built a reputation as one of electronic music’s most influential producers, releasing a slew of experimental albums throughout the 90’s with efforts like Selected Ambient Works Volume I and Richard D James album. Following 2001’s Drukqs, however, the Cornish musician’s prolific output went largely cold with just a few releases under alternate monikers AFX and The Tuss, while his live performances became more scarce as well, with his last stateside gig going down at Coachella in 2008.
Thankfully, his release schedule has picked up steam again in recent years, with his latest, Cheetah EP coming out earlier in the year, while 2014’s Syro went on to earn a Grammy. Now, after sharing a Tweet yesterday, Aphex Twin has revealed that he will be breaking his lengthy hiatus from performing in the US with the announcement of his first show in eight years.

Aphex Twin is scheduled to perform at Day For Night, a two day festival based in Houston, Texas. The event will go down December 17 and 18, with a lineup that includes fellow Warp artist Squarepusher, ODESZA, Björk, Kaskade and more. With a number of electronic music’s more forward thinking artists on the bill, Day For Night is shaping up to be a monumental end of the year festival. You won’t want to wait on grabbing tickets either, as a source close to Aphex Twin has revealed that no future performances are planned at this time.
