The world at large has an infatuation with following and scrutinizing every action of their favorite celebrities. The most heavily monitored and criticized public figures have been taking it upon themselves of late to tell their stories from their own perspective in a bid to retake control of the narrative.
As evidenced by the popularity of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries last year, audiences have come to appreciate stories straight from the horse’s mouth – which is probably why Pamela, a love story has stuck the landing with audiences around the world, securing the number two spot in the Netflix Top 10 rankings this week.
The documentary, coinciding with the release of Anderson’s memoir Love, Pamela, is all about the life, times, and relationships of the Baywatch star told from her perspective. It was flanked by You People in the number one spot and the infamously meme-y Minions: The Rise of Gru in the number three spot.
Reception to Pamela, a love story has been overwhelmingly positive, with critics over on Rotten Tomatoes scoring it at a staggering 97 percent at the time of writing, while audiences score it at 93.
Anderson has certainly been back in the spotlight since the release of her biographical book and documentary. Her son, Brandon Lee, has been quite outspoken in the aftermath of the documentary, commenting on the ‘criminal’ residuals his mother receives from Baywatch, as well as the fallout from her infamous sex tape.
Pamela, a love story is now streaming on Netflix.
