Batman: Under The Hood
How have their been 11 theatrical Batman films, but not one of them has adapted the famous “Under the Hood” arc? It’s criminal, really.
For those that don’t know, “Under the Hood” is famous for bringing back the second Robin, Jason Todd, and turning him into a vigilante who isn’t afraid to kill off bad guys. It’s a fantastic Batman story because it brings the hero’s ‘no kill’ rule front and center.
In case you’re not familiar with the story, it sees the Joker beat Jason Todd to death with a crowbar, and it’s only because of the magical Lazarus Pit that he makes his surprise resurrection. However, he’s hurt that Batman didn’t retaliate by killing the Clown Prince of Crime and is now seeking his own vengeance, forcing the Dark Knight to make some hard decisions.
Hopefully we’re closer to seeing this storyline happen on the big screen now that we have a rebooted Batman. The pieces are there, after all, with Batman V Superman revealing that Jason Todd has indeed been killed by the Joker. Let’s just hope then that Matt Reeves’ upcoming solo outing for the Caped Crusader adapts, or at least plants some more seeds for “Under the Red Hood.”
