Welcome to the stage…Taylor Swift. After earning a reputation for bringing everyone from Mick Jagger to Lena Dunham on stage as a special guest at her shows, Swift is returning the favor.
The singer popped up at The 1975’s show at London venue the 02 to perform “Anti-Hero” and the band’s song “The City” acoustic. Having previously joined Haim on stage at the same venue, it’s becoming something of a tradition for Swift to surprise British fans.
The occasion marks Swift’s first live performance of the single “Anti-Hero,” and she wore a silver sparkly dress and heels to match the Midnights era fashion.
Swift also performed “The City” from the 1975’s 2013 self-titled album, which she probably likes because it came out in 2013. Did you know she likes the number 13?
The band is currently promoting last year’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language. The band recently embarked on the European leg of The 1975 At Their Very Best, which has gotten plenty of attention for frontman Matty Healy’s onstage antics, including kissing fans (after checking IDs to make sure they’re legal) and eating raw meat on stage. Taylor’s appearance will probably top all that, though.
Swift and London boys The 1975 have previously expressed admiration for each other, so perhaps we shoulda known that buying tickets to their tour might actually be the easiest way to see Taylor Swift live. We shoulda knoooown!
It goes back to the 1989 era when Swift and Healy were spotted wearing each other’s merch, which of course caused speculation that the pair were dating, because Swift could not breathe around a man at the time without starting rumors. Swift, however, is likely in London visiting longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Healy recently ended a relationship with singer FKA Twigs and based on everything he has said and done lately, he’s probably very single right now.
