It was only a month ago that Steve Aoki released his third studio album, Neon Future II, but the infamous DJ/producer apparently has something new in the works. In an interview with Spin, Aoki covered a multitude of topics – from his vocal cord surgery to his free festival, LAoki – and revealed that another full-length effort is on the way.
“I already have enough songs to do another album,” Aoki said. “I’m excited for the new collaborations that would be on the next project.”
Aoki wouldn’t reveal too much more about the collaborations, but we do know that tracks featuring the likes of rock band Echosmith as well as hardstyle producer Headhunterz will apparently make it onto the album after being tightened up in the studio.
While we don’t have much more to go on here, I think it’s safe to say that you can expect more of the same on Aoki’s upcoming album as what was on Neon Future II: a collection of commercial tracks in which the producer’s own creative influence is dubious, featuring enough tie-ins with artists of other genres to give them a wide net of influence.
