Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there exists a notorious, yet popular TikTok account that ruins beloved songs through mashups. One such mashup has caught the attention of Snoop Dogg, who shared the same reaction that most people had when this track appeared on their For You Page.
The original creator of the mashup, known as @thereiruinedit, reposted a reaction video in which Snoop Dogg listens to the mashup of Disney’s “Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book and his song “Gin and Juice.” For some reason, the mashup worked and turned a song about drinking alcohol into something you’d expect to hear on a children’s soundtrack.
As if things weren’t already ridiculous enough, in celebration of Snoop Dogg’s reaction to their video, an edit was made featuring the mashup in a Snoop Dogg-themed sitcom intro. I must admit, it looks very convincing. Without the context of the original clips, it could easily convince people that the rapper once had a popular sitcom show in the ’90s.
It’s quite entertaining to see Snoop Dogg with that confused look on his face, wondering what happened to his 1993 track. Eventually, his expressions of confusion soon turned to enjoyment and acceptance as the rapper began to mouth the lyrics. But then again, he made a children’s web show called Doggyland, in which he performs educational rap songs for children. So perhaps this mashup could serve as inspiration for the show’s future installment.
Aside from the Snoop Dogg mashup, @thereiruinedit has combined songs from other artists, such as a splicing of Effel 65’s ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee) with Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star,’ and created a smooth and easy-listening track by blending different artists’ ways of saying a single word.
