August 30th is the day that I’m With You, the Red Hot Chili Pepper‘s latest album, will be released. It’s notable for a few reasons. Firstly, the band will be without long time guitarist John Frusciante and secondly, this is the band’s first album in half a decade.
The first single from I’m With You, titled The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie, isn’t set to drop until July 18th but yesterday it was leaked onto the internet.
The single is classic RHCP. Opening with a nifty bass line from Flea before Anthony Kiedis’ vocals eventually kick in, backed by new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer’s catchy chords and drummer Chad Smith’s steady beat.
The infectious chorus makes this funky rock track radio friendly and turns it into a guaranteed hit. The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie is a great single that will surely please long time RHCP fans.
“There is no question – this is a beginning,” said Kiedis, with drummer Chad Smith stating, “this is a new band. Same name, but it’s a new band.” “It’s just like a very … meaningful and rejuvenating rebirth for us,” continued Flea.
The band’s last album Stadium Arcadium, was released back in 2006. Five years is a long time to wait for an album but if this first single is any indication of how the final product will turn out, we should have nothing to worry about.
