Pokémon enlists popular K-pop group for upcoming music collaboration

K-Pop and 'Pokémon' is coming together!

Multiple celebrities with some heavy star power have thrown their hats into the ring to produce a Pokémon-themed song for the popular video game franchise. Now, The Pokémon Company has announced that the K-Pop group ENHYPEN will be joining the likes of Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran by releasing their own Pokémon song.

ENHYPEN have released a teaser for their upcoming track ‘One and Only.’ The teaser features the group in a RV van, then the camera zooms to a sketch of a Charizard and a Pikachu. Not a lot of Pokémon were featured in the teaser, but it does share a release date for the song and indicates that this collaboration is part of the Pokémon Music Collective.

According to Serebii.net, the Pokémon Music Collective is a music project created by The Pokémon Company in collaboration with Universal Music, in which artists release music using the iconic sounds from the Pokémon games. The project began in 2022 when the Japanese artist imase released their song, ‘Utau.’

ENHYPEN will be the second artist to be part of this collaboration. Just a few days before the release of this teaser, the official Japanese Pokémon Twitter page released a promo image that featured not only the K-pop group itself but also seven Pokémon, which may be the featured sounds in this upcoming track.

An official statement has been posted on the group’s Japanese Weverse page, thanking fans for their support of the South Korean pop group and hoping that fans will look forward to the song’s release. This is the second time that ENHYPEN has collaborated with a popular children’s brand. The group was featured in the 2023 film, Baby Shark’s Big Movie!, which is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
