Lorde is turning 20 years old today, but that’s not the only reason to celebrate. The “Royals” star paid respects to her teenage years via a long note written on Facebook, and in the process, went into some detail about her long-awaited upcoming album.
In the post, Lorde talks about her life growing up and how it made her into who she is today. She writes that her debut, Pure Heroine, was about “enshrining our teenage glory,” while the follow-up is going to be about “what comes next.” While she didn’t reveal anything too specific, she says that she can’t wait to spill her guts about the “whole thing” – including the album cover, lyrics and a tour, too. Considering that the cover art is apparently done – or at least she knows what it’s going to be – a new album can’t be too far off.
This is the first time that Lorde has given any information about the new record since she fired back at a commenter on Instagram. At that point, the album was only in its production stage, but now it looks like it could very well be in the final home stretch. It’s worth being excited for, and the fact that it’s supposed to be inspired by her newfound adulthood makes it even more intriguing.
