Jason Derulo has released the music video for his new single It Girl. Featuring Tika Sumpter of Gossip Girl fame, the Colin Tilley directed video shows the pop star romancing Tika (who is his real life girlfriend) along with some solo shots that allow Derulo to show off his dance moves.
“For the video, I wanted it to be an open book,” the 21-year-old singer told MTV News. “I wanted it to be almost like a photo album, so every single scene is kind of like a picture that you’re kind of looking into our relationship. So it is a 1920s vibe, it’s black and white, very high fashion—you know, you’ll see me very dapper in 1920s, Frank Sinatra-ish.”
The style they’ve chosen to go with here is kind of neat. As Derulo describes, it has that 1920s vibe, especially with the black and white photography. The song itself is a departure from Derulo’s usual club bangers but it’s a welcome change of pace and after a few listens, the track is really growing on me.
It Girl will be featured on Jason Derulo‘s upcoming album Future History, which will hit stores on September 27th.
