In an interview with Boston’s Peter Parker, Freddie Gibbs chops it up about his upcoming debut album ‘Baby-Faced Killer’. He revealed that he’s working with Ski Beatz, Develop, Hi-Tek and Jim Jonsin for the album.
“I’m just makin’ moves. I’m just gonna come with a quality sound…I’m just workin’ how I want to work, and makin’ my masterpiece the way I want to make [it].” He continues, “That same raw street shit that I been makin’, I’ma keep makin’ that. If it catch on the mainstream or radio, so be it…But I could care less what some old-ass dude and some soccer mom want me to be. ‘Cause I live in L.A., and I hear the radio stations, and they play songs for soccer moms. Them the bitches that ain’t at work everyday.”
Much of this attitude comes from the fact he was signed with Interscope Records for years without releasing an album, largely due to creative differences.
The Gary, Indiana rapper is making big moves this year as he appeared in XXL as part of the 2010 Freshman class as well as releasing the ‘Str8 Killa, No Filla Mixtape’ (download the no-DJ version HERE for free) and the subsequent retail ‘Str8 Killa EP’. Check out the interview below.
