With only three weeks left in the chart year, Eminem is on pace to become the first artist to have the year’s best selling album twice since Nielsen/SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. According to Yahoo! Music, ‘Recovery’ has sold 3,146,000 copies since its release in June, nearly as many copies as last year’s sales winner, Talyor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ sold in the entire calendar year (3,217,000).
‘Recovery’ took the number one spot on September 26th when it pulled ahead of Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ and has since gained a solid lead. The previous time Eminem held this title was for his 2002 album ‘The Eminem Show’.
In addition, those sales numbers for ‘Recovery’ include 759,000 digital copies, breaking another record for the most digital copies ever sold in a single year.
