Afrojack Cheeses Up Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s “Higher Place”

As many bad things as could be said about Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (and trust us, we've said most of them), it was hard not to like "Higher Place," their softer, piano-driven Ne-Yo collaboration from earlier this summer. Thankfully, Afrojack has stepped up to give us more to hate about the track by delivering this juiced-up remix that strips the original of all its redeeming qualities.

Afrojack’s remix of “Higher Place” starts off innocently enough, but after the first verse it introduces a dated synth lead that almost sounds like it was pulled directly from Swedish House Mafia’s 2013 anthem “Reload.” At the bridge, the addition of an electric guitar solo only serves to further entangle the original progression in superfluous influences, ultimately distracting the listener from the aspects of the original that made it work in the first place.
