Zack Snyder Reveals First Look At Young Darkseid In Justice League

Though we still hope for a Zack Snyder cut of Justice League to one day grace store shelves much like Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, we're not holding our breath waiting for it. Furthermore, it probably doesn't help matters when the fan favorite filmmaker just won't stop beating the dead horse that was his original vision for the DC Extended Universe.

As you may have heard, Snyder’s revealed that a cut of his Justice League tale does indeed exist, though it’s obviously up to WB if it ever sees the light of day. But to put icing on the cake – and a fat, juicy cherry on top of it – he’s now given us our first look at young Darkseid in the film over on Vero.

If you’re not familiar with the villain, he’s kind of like Thanos but only cooler. Created by Jack Kirby, he rules over the hellish planet of Apokalips and is essentially the God of all Evil. He’s crazy powerful as well and wouldn’t have any problem taking down Superman in a fight. Not to mention that he’s also responsible for some DC Comics’ best arcs, with one of our favorites being Grant Morrison’s excellent Final Crisis.

But we digress. Getting back to Snyder’s latest goodie, and you can check it out in the gallery down below. It’s unclear where exactly this comes from – for instance, is it a piece of concept art or a completed frame? – but the director captioned the post with the following: “Speaking of Father’s Day, here’s the king daddy #UxasandtheAntilife.”

Interesting, eh? Of course, we also know a little bit about how Darkseid would’ve factored into Snyder’s cut, with the director explaining a while back that he would’ve murdered Lois Lane. All in all, Zack’s vision would’ve been a much darker and more ambitious movie than what we eventually saw, and it also probably would’ve been a lot better.

But alas, it just wasn’t meant to be, though we could still see the Justice League assemble on the big screen again. Indeed, we’ve heard reports of James Gunn potentially heading up a reboot for the studio, and while it may still be a long, long ways away, we imagine that Warner Bros. isn’t done with the property just yet.
