After much speculation and debate, it has finally been confirmed that Zack Snyder will indeed helm the Justice League film, which will be split into two parts. The first instalment will arrive in 2017 with the second one following in 2019. To clarify, this is not Justice League and its sequel, this is one single movie being split into two parts because, well, this is Hollywood we’re dealing with and that’s what they do out there.
Of course, we have absolutely zero plot details on the film at this point, but we do know that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Amy Adams will all reprise their roles. Presumably, the film will also feature Aquaman, The Flash and Green Lantern, as each of those characters are getting their own solo outings in the near future. We also know that Shazam and Cyborg will be getting solo films in the coming years, so they could potentially show up in Justice League as well.
Of course, Warner Bros./DC will want to avoid cramming too many characters into the film, so at this point, I can only assume that they will feature only the biggest names, with the lesser known characters being introduced further down the road.
In terms of casting, we already know that Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman, Ray Fisher is Cyborg and it was just announced that Ezra Miller has snagged The Flash, so the only hero who doesn’t have an actor behind him is Green Lantern. Unfortunately, we don’t have any leads for that one just yet, but with DC’s master plan starting to take shape, expect more on that front shortly.
