One only needs to check out all the online fan art of Zac Efron as Kyle Rayner or Wolverine to know that there’s a lot of demand out there to see the Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile star step into a comic book movie role. And according to recent rumors, his opportunity may arrive with James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Yes, word on the street is that Efron is being eyed for a part that was quite clearly teased in the post-credits of 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We are, of course, referring to Adam Warlock, a character who fans have been waiting to see in the MCU for a while now. And while we still don’t have confirmation on if Zac’s indeed circling the role, or even if director James Gunn will definitely be including Warlock in Vol. 3, some new fan art has at least given us an idea of how Efron would look as Adam.
Seen in the gallery below, this awesome design puts the Baywatch star in a pretty cool costume that would work quite well in the film. All things considered, we think that Efron could easily slip into the role, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Gunn and Marvel have in mind.
Unfortunately, with Vol. 3 not expected to enter production until early 2021, it may be a while before we get any sort of confirmation on who the MCU’s Adam Warlock will be. Now that Gunn’s back behind the camera though, it feels safe to assume that the series will follow through on that tease from the last film.
At this point, we’re probably looking at a 2022 release for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but as the project continues to develop at a steady pace, we’ll hopefully start to learn more about what the future holds for Star-Lord and co.
