Though Tom Holland tends to get the brunt of it for spoiling Marvel’s latest releases, Mark Ruffalo has also been guilty of letting one or two things slip when he was supposed to be under embargo.
First came the Thor: Ragnarok screening blunder, when Ruffalo accidentally broadcast the opening 15 minutes of the movie via Instagram, before the Bruce Banner actor spoiled the ending of Avengers: Infinity War… 10 months before release.
Last summer, Mark Ruffalo and War Machine actor Don Cheadle sat down with Good Morning America to discuss all things Infinity War, only for Ruffalo to reveal that (spoilers!) everyone dies. Well, not everyone – half. Right away you can tell by Cheadle’s facial expressions that Mark Ruffalo had dun goofed, and it’s only now that Avengers: Infinity War is out in the wild that the actor can look back on the whole situation and laugh, as he did while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
As Cheadle points out, if you listen closely you’ll notice that Mark Ruffalo very nearly says “half,” which really would’ve spoiled Thanos’ master plan prior to release. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and it’s easy to recognize Ruffalo’s blunder now that we’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War with our own two eyes. But at the time, many brushed it off as a frivolous joke – even if some were left suspicious by Don Cheadle’s reaction.
So, there you have it; next time someone bemoans Tom Holland’s inability to keep a secret, kindly remind them that Mark Ruffalo isn’t exactly a saint when it comes to guarding Marvel’s most precious intel.
Avengers: Infinity War is available everywhere right now, meaning you have plenty of time to do your homework before the arrival of Avengers 4.
