Sick of hearing about remakes coming to TV? Well, never fear, as Hollywood is still bringing them to the big screen as well!
The latest is Flatliners, a remake of the 1990 sci-fi thriller which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon. It revolved around a group of medical students who journeyed into the afterworld to find meaning in their own lives before being resuscitated in the nick of time. Of course, things go horribly wrong.
It’s a cool premise, to be sure, and one which has a lot of potential if handled properly. There are also a long list of other reasons to be excited about this one, too, including the fact that the director of the original Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Niels Arden Oplev, is set to take the helm, with Ben Ripley (Source Code) writing the script.
If that wasn’t enough to get you interested, it’s now been revealed that Ellen Page (Inception, X-Men: Days of Future Past) is in talks to star in the remake. Unfortunately, there’s no word on who she’s going to be playing at this stage or how this new take will differ to the original, but hopefully we’ll hear more as the rest of the cast is assembled over the coming weeks and months.
