Production is now underway on Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange, and yet another actor has now been added to the second of Marvel’s Phase 3 movies. That’s martial artist Scott Adkins, and while his role is being kept a secret, The Wrap reveals that he’ll “have several major action scenes featuring hand-to-hand combat.”

Adkins played the transformed version of “Deadpool” in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and took part in an impressive battle sequence which saw him pitted against Wolverine and Sabretooth. He’s also made an impact in movies like The Bourne Ultimatum, The Expendables 2, and Zero Dark Thirty. He’ll next be seen alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in The Brothers Grimsby.

Adkins is English, but could he be playing an updated version of Wong? In the Doctor Strange comic books, he’s the Sorcerer Supreme’s Asian manservant, something which wouldn’t go down too well in a movie set in 2016. The fact that this actor has a martial arts background (similar to Wong) makes this at least somewhat likely, but we’re going to have to wait and see.

Regardless, he joins an impressive cast which so far includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Amy Landecker. Doctor Strange is set to be released on November 4th, 2016.
