The X-Men Will Add At Least Another 10 Years Onto The MCU’s Lifespan

The addition of X-Men following the Disney-Fox deal is expected to extend the lifespan of the MCU by an extra ten years, says one producer.

When the Disney-Fox deal was completed earlier this year, it meant huge news for Marvel Studios as the rights to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four reverted back to them. Not only did this open the door to the titular teams appearing in the MCU, but it also gave them access to countless other characters and properties that have been tied up with Fox for years. If we thought the franchise was wide-ranging before, think about how massive it’ll be once these brands are introduced.

In fact, one insider estimates that the X-Men alone will add a whole extra decade to the already lengthy lifespan of the cinematic universe. The Hollywood Reporter spoke to an anonymous producer and though they pointed out that Marvel is in “no rush” to bring mutantkind into the MCU following the disappointment of Dark Phoenix, they believe the wait will be more than worth it.

“There is no rush to bring the X-Men to the marketplace after this. And when they come back, it’s going to extend Marvel’s run another 10 years.”

There’ve already been a lot of reports and rumors about Marvel’s plans for the X-Men. For instance, we know that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is expected to be the only one to make the move intact, though there’s conflicting information about how they’ll continue the Merc’s misadventures. One thing that’s for certain is that everyone else will be recast, including Wolverine, who might just get his own Disney Plus TV series.

Speaking of which, the upcoming streaming platform looks set to be a key factor in the expansion of the MCU over the next decade. We Got This Covered was informed by a source back in January that Marvel is already looking to make multiple X-Men TV shows for Disney Plus. What with this opportunity and the many film sub-franchises the merger gives them, it’s easy to believe that the addition of the X-Men will make the MCU even more invincible than it already is.
