Falling in line with the Four Horsemen in X-Men: Apocalypse – rubbing shoulders with Magneto, Storm, and Angel Olivia Munn’s Psylocke is primed to play a major part in Bryan Singer’s mutant sequel, and with that comes a bigger emphasis on stuntwork and practical effects.

Keen to sink her teeth into the role, Munn revealed recently that she performed all her own stunts in Apocalypse, even turning down a “believable” stunt double in the process.

That’s not something you hear too often, particularly for an actor portraying such an agile and lethal character as Psylocke. But in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Munn shared her thought process behind the decision.

“That was me from the beginning to the end. That was a really cool thing to feel like when I showed up on set I was like, “Oh wait, I can do this! Throw me onto a wire, give me a sword – I’m good!’”

Boasting powers of telekinesis and a deep understanding of martial arts, the actress went on to describe her mutant as a “powerful, lethal” mutant.

“Psylocke is such a powerful, lethal character. It was important to me that I was able to do all of the stunts because the more believable it is, the better it is for the audience — and the only way to make it believable is for me to actually do it.”

Flanked by Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alexandra Shipp’s (Storm), and Ben Hardy as Angel, X-Men: Apocalypse will bring together Oscar Isaac’s all-powerful Four Horseman when Fox’s sequel opens in theaters on May 27.
