Weighing in as one of the summer’s early blockbusters is Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the conclusion to 20th Century Fox’s prequel trilogy that’s set to rain down biblical chaos across man and mutantkind alike.
Three months out from the film’s arrival, a new image has emerged today (via CBM) that brings together two former allies in Professor X and Magneto – portrayed by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, respectively.
[zerg]Enlisting alongside Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse – and gaining enhanced powers in the process – Fassbender’s Magento is part of the menacing task force known as the Four Horsemen. There, he’ll be rubbing shoulders with Alexandra Shipp’s Storm, Ben Hardy as Angel and Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, who we recently learned performed all her own stunts in the mutant sequel.
Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, Lucas Till, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn and Oscar Isaac complete the cast, and X-Men: Apocalypse will loom into theaters on May 27.
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
