While Woody Allen‘s latest venture on the big screen, To Rome with Love, wasn’t received very well, it hasn’t stopped him from plowing ahead. Not only does he have another film of his own in the works, but he has also signed on to star in John Turturro‘s upcoming film Fading Gigolo.
Allen joins a cast that already includes Turturro, Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Paradis and Liev Schreiber.
The film, which has a planned October start date, “revolves around a book store owner (Allen) with a money-making scheme who convinces his friend (Turturro) that a fortune can be made by becoming a professional gigolo.”
Allen’s other upcoming project is still untitled and boasts an impressive cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, and Michael Emerson. As per usual, we have no details on the plot, but we do know that it will be a comedy, so that will probably give you some idea of what you can expect.
Woody Allen is one of those people that always has my attention with whatever he does. Even though his career was hitting a bit of a slump, he managed to bounce back with the outstanding Midnight in Paris, taking home an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in the process. I have yet to see To Rome with Love, but despite the bad reviews, I will give it a fair shot. As for his two latest projects, you can bet I’ll be checking them out too.
While no official release dates have been set, both films are expected in theaters sometime in 2013.
