Wolverine may be the fiercest hero in all of comic book lore and he certainly is the most menacing of the popular heroes who have had films made in the last few years. Not only is he willing to rip your head off at the slightest wrong remark, but the way he rips it off is with adamantium claws that slice their way through flesh and bone like a steak knife cutting through butter. Makes getting hit in the head by one of Hulk’s fists seem positively tame, doesn’t it?
So far we’ve seen an assortment of X-Men films featuring the berserking Logan, but as intense as Hugh Jackman is, the character’s intensity has been far less than what fans have desired. Slicing someone’s chest apart is likely going to be a bit gory, but we’ve yet to see a blood-stained Wolverine. It looks like that’s all going to change though in The Wolverine, as the newest image for the film shows blood on our hero’s claws.
Director James Mangold said that this film was going to be far different from, and in no way connected to, the other X-Men films we’ve seen, which is part of the reason why so many people are excited for it. On that note, this image is another step in the right direction.
There’s also two other new stills from the film. While neither is as revealing as the bloody claws photo, one picture of Wolverine in the rain is accompanied by a quote from Jackman which says, “It’s the badass Wolverine I know everybody wants to see.” At this point it’s clear that Mangold and Jackman believe in the movie, and they’re making a believer out of me as well.
We’ve seen plenty of images for the film though and what people really want to know is when will we finally see footage? There have been a lot of complaints about how late the first trailer for the film is going to drop, considering how films these days, especially comic films, get trailers insanely early. After all, we got a trailer for Man Of Steel almost a full year before it’s slated to release.
The Wolverine‘s trailer was rumoured to premiere as early as before The Hobbit, but it’s been months since then and we still haven’t even seen one second of footage from the film. Today though, finally, it was revealed exactly when the trailer is going to theaters, as Mangold has taken to Twitter to put the speculation to rest.
Clarity for all asking: I will tweet a peek (a "tweazer") on 26th. Full teaser online on 27th. 3D and 2D in theaters on the big screen 29th.

Needless to say, I’ll be glued to Twitter all day on the 26th waiting to see that “tweazer” and I’m already counting down the days until the 27th. Assuming the trailer is as great as it should be, there’s a good chance that a trip to the theater on the 29th to see it on the big screen will be worth it as well. Mangold didn’t specifically say what film the trailer will premiere with, but it’s fairly safe to assume that you’ll be able to catch it in front of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
I’m in the overwhelming minority who didn’t hate Origins. Sure, they completely screwed up Deadpool in just about the worst way possible, but the fact that we got to have a whole film focused on Jackman as Wolverine was enough for the fanboy in me to be blinded to all the plot holes and less than adequate acting by other characters. The fact that The Wolverine looks like it may have fixed all the issues that hurt the previous X-men films, and has Jackman playing Logan for a full two hours, makes it so I couldn’t be more excited for this film.
What do you think of this (relatively) late release forĀ The Wolverine‘s trailer? How about the blood that finally stains Wolverine’s claws? Check out the images below and then head to the comments section to share your thoughts!
