The press tour for Pacific Rim: Uprising is getting more and more interesting by the day.
Last week, for instance, The Last Jedi‘s John Boyega was asked about his affiliation with Blade, leading to all sorts of wishful thinking and a truly incredible piece of concept art by BossLogic. But now, it’s Scott Eastwood’s turn to field questions about Uprising and the wider Kaiju world.
Per Screen Rant, the former Suicide Squad actor spoke at length about his involvement in Pacific Rim: Uprising and what it was like to cancel yet another apocalypse alongside John Boyega. And that’s not all – Eastwood was then quizzed about Wolverine, a character he’d like to play in a future reboot.
Yeah, definitely. I mean, you know, If the opportunity presents itself…I love Wolverine. He’s one of my favorite comic book characters of all time. He’s a renegade. Total badass renegade. He’s kind of, you know, a loose cannon…doesn’t play by the rules…he’s the kind of character that I love.
Thanks to Hugh Jackman’s incredible, generation-spanning performance – nine movies in 17 years, culminating in the R-rated Logan – Wolverine is far and away the most popular X-Man of them all, so if Marvel chooses to incorporate Fox’s mutants into the MCU, we imagine Wolvie will be one of the first to make the jump.
Exciting though that may be, it does leave Marvel and Fox facing a tricky situation. Jackman is a difficult act to follow, while many believe that the character should remain on the shelf for months – if not years – in order to properly preserve his legacy.
But it’s really a question of when, rather than if, Fox will reboot Wolverine for a new generation. Perhaps Scott Eastwood is the man for the job? You can chime in with your own thoughts on this potential casting via the usual place.
