On the eve of tomorrow’s full reveal, 20th Century Fox has unveiled a suitably epic trailer tease for War For the Planet of the Apes.
Designed as an ode to humanity and all of our many achievements – agriculture, the industrial revolution, launching the airplane…you name it – the promo above features the booming voice of the late, great Charlton Heston, who famously headlined the first two entries in the Apes saga. Now, almost 50 years after Franklin J. Schaffner’s groundbreaking sci-fi opus wowed audiences, Fox is ready to unveil the grand finale to its prequel trilogy, which is coming by way of writer-director Matt Reeves (The Batman).
Back in the motion-capture suit is The Force Awakens star Andy Serkis, who will once again spearhead a full-blown simian army as Caesar. Also starring Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary, War for the Planet of the Apes is as much about an interspecies conflict as it is about Caesar wrangling with his inner demons. Revenge is on the cards, it seems, and those venturing out to see Alien: Covenant this weekend (our review) can look forward to seeing tomorrow’s trailer on the big screen. If not, check back with We Got This Covered on Tuesday, as we’ll have full coverage of the film’s third and final preview for you to enjoy.
The third and potentially final chapter in Caesar’s story will be with us on July 14th. But tell us, are you excited to bear witness to the War For the Planet of the Apes? Do let us know.
