Will Captain America: Civil War Cross Over With Luke Cage?

Captain America: Civil War is a lot of things. Not only will it kick off Phase 3 of Marvel's cinematic universe, but it's also set to act as an introduction to several very important characters as well as be a game-changer for the MCU going forward. It's an ambitious film, no doubt, and now it seems that it's going to be attempting to accomplish one more interesting task.

If recent reports are to be believed, Captain America: Civil War could be the film that bridges the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the company’s TV series on Netflix. Just how will it be doing that, you ask? Well, we’re hearing tonight that two new cast members have joined the movie: Jim Rash and Alfre Woodard.

While these are both talented individuals who we’re excited to see appear in Civil War, it’s Woodard’s involvement that’s got us intrigued. That’s because the actress is already set to have a role in Marvel’s Luke Cage TV series, thus leading many people to believe that Steve Rogers’ upcoming threequel will be the link between the two universes.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Woodard is playing somebody else here, as Marvel hasn’t commented yet on which part she’s taking on. But, it seems like too much of a coincidence for that to be the case. If she was cast in Civil War, she’s very likely playing the same role that she’s playing on Luke Cage, which is that of Mariah Dillard.

Again, though, nothing’s been confirmed and we won’t know for sure until Captain America: Civil War storms into theatres on May 6th, 2016.
