Everything is awesome, as USA Today has premiered the first photos from Chris McKay’s The LEGO Batman Movie, introducing us to the lair built by Will Arnett’s charismatic Caped Crusader.

Of course, all eyes will be trained on the introduction of Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight in a few days time thanks to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but nevertheless, today’s stills act as an enticing primer for the spinoff’s first trailer, itself due to hit the interwebs on Wednesday.

Reflecting on the creation of the LEGO Batcave, Arnett told USA Today that both he and McKay wanted to find a way to humanize the World’s Greatest Detective.

“The Batcave is even better than we remembered it, it’s awesome. But I also love getting into the ho-hum day-to-day of being Batman and what it’s like to fight crime each day. Like the idea of Batman oversleeping his alarm clock makes me laugh. It really does humanize him.”

Bouncing off this, the director himself weighed in on developing Arnett’s rendition of the DC icon from The LEGO Movie, and why they ultimately want to craft a film they’d want to see.

“We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character. This is the movie we would want to see.”

Also starring Michael Cera as Robin, Ralph Fiennes as Batman’s right-hand man Alfred, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, expect The LEGO Batman Movie will make a beeline all the way into theaters in time for February 10, 2017.
