So, you want to stream FernGully, eh? Well, too bad! Just kidding. FernGully: The Last Rainforest can be found about anywhere. With the recent resurgence of the aforementioned animated classic in the wake of some incredibly fake announcements, plenty of folks are trying to relive a bit of their childhood by streaming this iconic flick. Myself included.
For those unaware, a recent TikTok revealed FernGully might be getting the live-action treatment. Except, it was fake. Real fake. Still, that hasn’t stopped the internet from going absolutely bonkers, and now that fans know they won’t be getting a new version of the film anytime soon — they want to see the original. Who can blame them?
Where can I stream ‘FernGully?’
Before I reveal exactly where you can stream FernGully, I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence if I didn’t describe this masterpiece for those who haven’t had the pleasure to watch it…
FernGully: The Last Rainforest is a 1992 animated classic that goes a little something like this: When a logging company begins to cut down a magical Australian forest named FernGully (big shock there), a fairy named Crysta accidentally shrinks down a human boy named Zak. Zak starts to see all the damage that the logging company is causing to the forest and helps Crysta stop the environmental horrors and pollution. Oh, and they also fight a super evil monster-thing called Hexxus that feeds on our pollution? It all starts to kind of blend together by the end. I promise it’s good!
FernGully is pretty by-the-book, as far as stories go. It’s about a character who believes in their “tribe” who ends up switching over to another “tribe” because of their empathy for whatever plight they face. It’s Avatar, it’s Dances with Wolves, it’s storytelling.
Now, where was I? Ah, yes. Where to stream this thing! As far as streaming goes, you can stream FernGully on STARZ or Apple TV Plus for free if you have a subscription — without having to worry about those pesky ads. If you don’t care about a commercial every once in a while, then check it out on Pluto TV.
To be honest, I think Pluto is absolutely rad, but let’s save that for a different article. Besides the services I listed above, you can buy or rent FernGully: The Last Rainforest anywhere you buy or rent movies. That includes: Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, Microsoft, and Redbox.
Well, there you have it. All the places to stream, rent, or buy FernGully: The Last Rainforest. A true-blue classic of ’90s animation. Did I think I would type the word FernGully this many times? Absolutely not, but c’est la vie.
